@phiilu, FWIW I have the same argon case with fan and was having the same issue. I tested with other fans and the issue went away. Not sure if it’s botched soldering or just the way it is but in your case try a different fan.
Hey thanks for sharing your experience! Before the argon case I hade the official RPi 5 active fan and it had the same issue that it was always running at full speed.
I used the RPi5 with a PoE Splitter before thought maybe it doesn't get enough power or something else related to power. So I also bought an official RPi 5 PSU, but it doesn't change anything.
I ordered 2 new fans and will try it with them too, if they have the same problem I just assume I have a bad RPi 5 unit. For now this is my only RPi 5 so I can't confirm if the issues is with the fans or the RPi 5.
