In the UK every cable must be supplied by a fused circuit that is equal to or below the cable rating.
Not sure that's relevant here. The circuit is fused, of course, since it's coming from my outdoor wall outlet. The cable is just a normal AC power cable, 16AWG 13amps. The question here is about modifying the cable by cutting off the plug at one end. And, it's not about whether it would pass an electrical inspection, since it's not a permanent installation.
That is the kind of answer that scares the hell out of people with any knowledge of electrical safety. I was thinking of three things.

1. You don't burn property down
2. You don't kill anybody
3. Your insurance remains valid.

Your original statement said you were going to use a "wire" which to me sent alarm bells flashing and lights ringing.

It is an anomaly in the States that "13A cable" is often used on a 15A circuit, yet the UK gets ridiculed for have a separate fuse for each wired device.

Opening your power adaptor will change the properties of the thermal safety device within (assuming American power adapters have this?), it wasn't designed to be ventilated. I doubt you are breaking any regulations or guidelines provided adequate electrical insulation and climate protection is provided and you have some awareness of fire risk. It would be no different to using a module that has no thermal protection.
