Ah, so it's a Pico W (original? are there clones?) without any soldered headers. Micro USB plugged in to a PC Win 11. From the Github page, I gather you are running MicroPython for Pico W. Correct me if I am wrong.

I am only a C SDK user with Picos, so I will generally leave this to others here to figure out MicroPython and Pico W. Was curious for more precise info; it may help others with the diagnosis part. It would also be helpful if you have the exact MicroPython version used.

Soldering or no soldering is fine, these boards can handle it. Boards are pretty robust, unless you've done something like bend them.

My suggestion: check the MicroPython version first, make sure that's a correct one to use, then try a simple LED blinker. An LED blinker program is the most convenient fallback test. If the LED blinks on and on then there's probably nothing wrong with the board or MicroPython. But I've got totally no idea about the long time thing, very strange, and too little info to make any useful guesses.
i used this version in the updated one:
RPI_PICO_W-20240602-v1.23.0.uf2

and the other one it is a 2023 version.
the weird thing is that while the first one worked for like an hour the second one worked for minutes.
i cannot try anything because the pi is not showing as plugged in. it shows like open circuit. but i do see 3.23 volts in the 3.3 rail. any other suggestion?
