Troubleshooting • Re: I can't remote into my raspberry pi 0 because of password problems.

Does anyone know what's happening here? Why doesn't raspberry work as the password for pi? Why isn't it asking me for the new username I tried to setup? Will deleting userconf.txt let me login again as pi?

Can we deduce that you have a locally-connected keyboard and screen, and that you can access your 7-years stale Raspbian Jessie installation on your RPiZero that way?

If so, troubleshooting and repair are probably trivial.

But I am not going to waste time typing them up until this is confirmed.

(Setting your old microSD card to one side and performing a fresh installation of the current supported 32-bit RasPiOS Bookworm Lite onto a new or spare microSD card will get you up and running again faster than having a dialogue via these forums.)

I'm using it as a USB dongle. I've done this in the past.
That might be a complicating factor. I don't understand what that means.
Yes i can access the pi 0 from my computers keyboard and mouse, locally connected I think. My problem is that i'm constantly denied access. Username pi with password raspberry gets denied for some reason. The username in the userconf.txt file gets denied access too. I used to be able to connect to it and everything as well.

Having this 0 as a USB dongle pi 0 would be the perfect use of it for me for a variety of reasons. So that's my ultimate goal with it.
