True or False ? CM5 in Dev Kit can not boot (2024-11-19-raspios-bookworm-arm64-full.img.xz) from SD card.

Another vote for TRUE.

Which will be no surprise, since it was what I said in reply to your previous post on the same topic. (Although you seemed to think you had an RPi[5] single board computer.) viewtopic.php?t=381404#p2279840

It has probably been cited already, but the official Documentation looks very specific -
Compute Module 5 IO Board - https://www.raspberrypi.com/documentat ... 5-io-board
Compute Module 5 IO Board provides the following interfaces:

HAT footprint with 40-pin GPIO connector

PoE header

2× HDMI ports

2× USB 3.0 ports

Gigabit Ethernet RJ45 with PoE support

M.2 M key PCIe socket compatible with the 2230, 2242, 2260, and 2280 form factors

microSD card slot (only for use with Lite variants with no eMMC; other variants ignore the slot)

As for why... My conjecture. It seems the board is designed with only one connection to storage. The same electronics are used to access either the onboard EMMC if fitted, or the microSD card reader if not. To support both alternatives would presumably add to the BoM and cost for flexibility that RP Ltd decided would not be a justifiable feature.
