Do I have to do anything to activate pi-5-active-cooler?

I have tries searching and come up empty handed (except stress tests and product information) .
The base DTB contains:-
cooling_fan Enables the Pi 5 cooling fan (enabled automatically by the firmware)

How do I verify it is working?
