The 3 milliseconds is still a lot of "waste" but I suspect that is a workable problem.

Interesting about the MP versions . I think i had used 1.19, 1.21 then 1.22 while fiddling with the servo project.

It might be worth going over your code to see if anything is exercising the heap . The documentation is really quite good :
