Can you say exactly what it said about not using "video="?This 'fix' just more issues - rebooting after adding this prevented me from logging in at all. The boot config file actually specifically says not to use video=.
The file you should be editing was "/boot/firmware/cmdline.txt" and it's a single line - there are no warnings about what not to put in there.
